In this first in the series of
futuristic mystery novels, the Las Vegas
detective agency spares the world from a
colossal and diabolical terrorist
plot. The situations in which
Marina and Sonja become involved, the
kinky antics and outrageous solutions
they contrive, make Dirty Harry’s
exploits look like a Mother-Teresa tea
party.
This novel has suspense, action, mystery, history (of the future), humor, drama, tragedy, good and accurate science, well-integrated sex (a bit kinky and humorous but not gratuitous), pathos, violence,
and even a touch of social consciousness.
What the critics say:
"The Mystery of the Golden Spheres is a fine
debut that will leave readers desiring more tales from the S&M Detective
Agency."
Harriet Klausner--I Love a Mystery
"Tracy Harrison has created two wonderful
characters in Sonja Makarova and Marina Golikova. What I really liked about
these women is the fact that they aren't all just business. They take a lot of
pride in the pleasure they derive out of life. They can often find the humor
in even a bad situation. Even though the title of the detective agency is
"S&M," and a couple of people do get tied up, the book is not
about Sadism and Masochism. There are a few scenes not intended for the
younger audience. In fact, it gets a little hot and heavy for a while (I'm
still feeling the heat). …
Being a lover of science fiction, I found that I quite enjoyed learning about
all of the technological advances in the year 2047.
…The Mystery of the Golden Spheres is a great beginning to
what promises to be a fun, sexy, science fiction, mystery thriller series
about two women detectives in 2047."
Conan
Tagard--MTBCA
A very unusual mystery/thriller...It was good humor, interesting sex and science."
Iwan Morelius, Editor of Read & Listened to in the Swingbed
"On first seeing the cover, I had in my mind an adventure something like an episode of Charlie's Angels, and I was not disappointed. Here are two heroines who can look after themselves.
Las Vegas, the year 2047. Sonja and Marina are two private investigators with their own agency, the S & M agency. They witness one of their clients being murdered whilst in the middle of a transaction concerning
three golden spheres. What are they, and why was someone willing to murder for their secrets?
With help from their neighbor and sometimes partner in the agency, a semi-retired physics professor, the girls investigate and soon find themselves in danger. It is up to them to help prevent a terrorist tragedy from
occurring.
The novel has a bit of everything, drama, romance, mystery, action and suspense. Although dealing with sensitive themes, such as murder and terrorism, it is quite a fun book to read. Marina and Sonja are very quirky
characters, and they enjoy teasing the professor so much that you sometimes feel quite sorry for him!
There is something to keep every genre fan happy, from sci-fi to romance.
It's well written, with a good balance of description and dialogue interspersed with action. There were some love scenes in the book, some funny, some poignant, but always tasteful."
